I think it’s safe to say that most Bridgerton fans are now done binging in Season 2, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve been admiring the show’s gorgeous fresh-faced looks throughout all the courtship and intrigue.
Bridgerton makeup, inspired by the trends of the Regency era, is quite subtle but still delicately defines key features like eyes, cheeks and lips. When the show’s makeup artist Lynda J Pearce shared the products used to achieve Daphne’s dewy, rosy look in a series of Instagram posts, it was no big surprise that many of the products were expensive.
Fortunately, you can recreate the clean, classic look of Bridgerton makeup with drugstore makeup swaps that give similar results! Check out the routine below.
To enhance the gorgeous glow that defines Bridgerton makeup, Pearce preps using the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer ($ 40). This not only has Vitamin C for long-lasting skin-lightening effects, but is infused with pigments that add radiance under makeup. Almost identical effects can be found with the Milani Bright Side Illuminating Primer ($ 10.99). Without having tried the Ole Henriksen primer, I’d say these are absolutely fake based on the formula’s claims and highlights!
On set, Pearce uses the Chanel Vitalumier Aqua Foundation ($ 50), which is a thin and light product that offers light to medium coverage. You can get similar results with the L’Oreal Skin Paradise Water-Based Tinted Moisturizer ($ 16.99), a water-based tinted moisturizer with buildable coverage, a dewy, natural-looking finish, plus a hydration boost. You can see before and after me using this product on my acne and hyperpigmentation in my Skin Paradise Tinted Moisturizer Review.
Adding to the glow, the YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Concealer ($ 38) it is applied to the area under the eyes. This moisturizing concealer adds enough coverage to hide dark circles while remaining weightless … which you can get with the $ 6 elf flawless lightening concealer. They both use hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin while you wear it, but the drugstore swap is vegan and cruelty free!
With the rest of the face remaining rather subtle, the blush is where Bridgerton makeup makes a statement. On Daphne, you will see that the Convertible Color Stila ($ 25) in Lillio adds a flushed, bouncy look to the cheeks in a nude pink. The Flower Beauty Crush Lip and Cheek Gel ($ 9.99) gives the same color wash and glossy finish for a youthful look. The shadow Crunchy Strawberry it’s a close match when it’s nuanced, maybe slightly warmer.
This secret is one that not even Lady Whistledown would have caught: Daphne wears drugstore lip color, even if it’s not a lip product at all! The Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel ($ 14) is a translucent gel blush, but Pearce buffs and blurs Natural blend gently on the lips to make them appear more naturally pigmented.
The Bridgerton makeup style is classic and perfect for everyday use. How barely makeup it’s on trend in 2022, it’s both timeless and contemporary!
