Greek makeup artist Gregoris Pyrpylis was recently named the new creative director of Hermès beauty division.
French luxury house Hermès recently named Greek makeup artist Gregoris Pyrpylis creative director for its rapidly growing beauty division. The former Shiseido ambassador is best known for her step-by-step makeup tutorials on YouTube and has worked with the likes of Alexa Chung, Cindy Crawford, Carli Bruni and French model Laetitia Casta.
Upon his appointment, Pyrpylis said: “I am delighted to join Hermès, which for me is the house that embodies beauty and is unique in its values, audacity and attachment to craftsmanship and know-how. I have always seen makeup and skincare as a means and not an end. Beauty items are wonderful tools that go beyond appearance for the benefit of well-being.
He continued: “It is clear to me that through the Beauty métier, Hermès tries to provide its community with an experience, a journey, during which every personality can be expressed, every form of beauty revealed”.
Pyrpylis will work on the continuing development of Hermès Beauty métier, launched in March 2020 with the launch of Rouge Hermès, as a series of lipsticks housed in color block shells designed by Pierre Hardy, Hermès; creative and design director for beauty objects. The Beauty métier has since expanded to include Rose Hermès (blush) and Les Mains Hermès (nail polish).
The new creative director will be responsible for the home make-up vision and will guide the creation of the collections.
“We share with Gregoris a vision of beauty as a daily ally that reveals personality and confers elegance, comfort and pleasure,” said Pierre-Alexis Duma, artistic director of Hermès.
Curiosity and curiosity: Pyrpylis, from a family of pharmacists, was studying English literature at the University of Athens before pursuing her passion for make-up. It was when a friend of hers casually asked him to help her put on makeup one night that changed the trajectory of her career. It was soon after that evening that she signed up for makeup classes and the rest as they say is history.
In her new role at Hermès Beauty, Pyrpylis will lead the creation of new collections, along with the continued development of existing lines: Rouge Hermès lipsticks, Hermès Rose blushes and Les Mains Hermès hand and nail products.
The creative director and beauty expert was recently in Sydney, Australia at Hermes, where he gave what felt like an intimate lecture on the brand’s beauty products.
A great achievement for the Greek beauty expert, who not only joins but leads the luxurious prestigious brand
