Flawless Beauty reopens in a larger space at 55 Sandy Bottom Road | Kent County Daily Schedules

COVENTRY – In April 2019, Melissa Salvas opened the doors of Flawless Beauty at 53 Sandy Bottom Road. Three years later, her small business grew to offer everything from microblading to Botox to hair care, Salvas moved to a much larger space next door.

“We are super excited to be here,” Salvas said Sunday at an event to celebrate the reopening of his salon and medical center at 55 Sandy Bottom Road.

Salvas decided to move into the building that once housed Anytime Fitness so that he can continue to expand his business comfortably.

Resident of Coventry, Salvas has worked in the cosmetology industry for more than 30 years. He started by renting space in other salons, and then he devoted himself to microblading, a semi-permanent tattoo technique used to fill in the eyebrows.

As her repertoire grew to include other permanent makeup services, Salvas decided to take the leap and open up Flawless Beauty. With a salon of her own, she began to invite hairdressers to rent chairs, and the services she was able to offer quickly became more varied.

“My business has grown [to include] all the different services, “he said, standing in his new building surrounded by the small business owners who also do their jobs there, each dressed in a” Flawless Beauty “T-shirt.

In addition to microblading, the permanent makeup options offered by Salvas include lip tint tattoo, smoky eyelash enhancement and powder eyebrows, as well as areola tattoo for breast cancer patients.

Salvas’ goal is for Flawless Beauty to be “one stop shop,” he said.

The salon offers everything from teeth whitening to waxing to facials.

Sunlight pours into the building and onto a row of salon chairs where the hairdressers do their magic; shampoo stations are lined up nearby. A neon sign declaring “love is in the hair” hangs over a fireplace.

The private spaces at the rear of the building are dedicated to spray tanning and eyelash services. A massage table was set up inside a dark and quiet room.

There is also a boutique near the main entrance, where shoppers can purchase jewelry, candles, beauty products, and a variety of other items.

Spanning approximately 2,600 square feet, the new Flawless Beauty space is nearly twice the size of the original salon. Salvas said his hope is that the new location will attract more community members to try the various services on offer.

Before heading out to cut the ribbon at her new business location, Salvas was recognized on Sunday by elected officials at a grand reopening ceremony.

“Melissa, in addition to being an amazing cosmetologist, is an exceptional wife, mother and small business owner,” Dist. 25 Rep. Tom Noret said in front of the crowd that had gathered for the event.

On behalf of himself, Dist. 28 Representative George Nardone and House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi, Noret quoted Salvas from the Rhode Island House of Representatives recognizing her as a “thriving entrepreneur in the city of Coventry ”.

And on behalf of the Coventry City Council, Jennifer Ludwig, Vice President of the Council, and Councilor Hillary Lima presented Salvas with a certificate of commendation.

“We recognize that small businesses play a huge role in the local community,” Ludwig said. “Melissa, thank you so much for your dedication, not only to your customers, but also to your employees … congratulations on this beautiful new expansion.”
